At some point we have visualized ourselves as the star attraction of some event or another, where we are in a mood or a simply put out about a turn of events in our life and Leslie finds herself in such a place where she's given a shortened chorus and one that's completely confused her with someone else completely. Once again reality is always giving us lemons even when we are the star attraction.

The use of choric narration in The Ballad of Leslie is an excellent twist on an old trope. With Leslie realizing that the chorus is narrating her life for some reason, it changes everything. I love that you think the play is going to be about one thing and then it turns into something else entirely. Tons of comic potential here! Love it!

Playwright Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend had me at "budget cuts" for the professional chorus. Add in mistaken identity, a banjo and a ukelele, and this is one charmer of a play! So much opportunity for comic moments and would be so much fun to act and direct. Read it and produce it!

Oh my God... Reading this aloud to myself, I had several giggle fits, gasped out one or two "oh no!"s, looked on agape in amused bewilderment, and may have injured by neck throwing my head back in laughter while simultaneously slapping my knee. (My attorney will be in touch, Lisa.)

Based on the *magnificent* vocal choices I was making on the fly while reading it cold, I can only surmise that this play is a gift for actors. The characters are terrific, their circumstances constantly inventive, and Feriend's verbal rhythms and repetitions are comically orchestral!

I loved this heartwarming tale of a woman and her one-person chorus, who's just the perfect amount of pushy. A fantastic addition to any 10-minute play festival. Brava!

This made me smile in so many ways! What a great character Jordan is! I love the exchanges between Jordan and Leslie and I secretly home Karen never arrives. What an epic way to spend a mundane day! Budget cuts or not. This was a very fun read and will be a huge delight to the audience as well as the artistic team.

Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend writes with such humor and heart, and in THE BALLAD OF LESLIE, we're taken on a surreal journey that feels incredibly relatable. As the character of Leslie deals with disappointment and frustration, a Greek chorus arrives in the form of a well-intentioned but hilarious character named Jordan. And the dynamic between these two is so engaging and interesting that you won't want the play to end.

I enjoyed this fantastic two-hander so much! Very clever dialogue and just the right amount of surrealism, while staying grounded in the authentic emotional journey of the characters. Wonderful work! I'd like to hire Jordan to accompany me on my next solo trip to the grocery store, since that's the most epic thing I've done for the past 10 months.

Life doesn't always go our way, but if it's going to go awry, why not have it go in style! A narrator, or in this case, a chorus of one (budget cuts, you understand) arrives just in time to make an inconvenience seem more epic. Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend's written a zippy little play about making epic lemonade out of one of life's lemons. And does it in a way that is perfect, by adding a mistaken identity to the mix. Fast and fun!
