It's almost oxymoronic to describe this short work as touchingly cynical, but that does seem to apply to this breathtakingly bold take on how much the glorification of sport has perverted our values. It's done in such a brilliant fashion that even the most outlandish justification for going ahead with the crucial game makes sense. Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend has a perfect ear for the language, the culture, and the emotions at stake, and the landing is both a surprise and exactly what makes it work.

Winning is everything and that motto is played out to an excellent finish in Feriend's delicious dark comedy. Growing up in the south, football was everything and the only thing and I remember always feeling like crawling away whenever people started talking about it! Spot-on and Perfection rolled into one!

That this play is as adorable as it is dark is nothing short of miraculous! Feriend takes a harrowing true story of a high school football team that perished in a plane crash and boldly asks, “what about the other team?” In so doing, she creates a powerful indictment against how HS football culture’s Anything to Win attitude makes its kids pay the price for the ambitions of unfulfilled adults. There’s a call for decency amidst the laughs and the cringes. GO, TEAM!
