There is a wonderful blend of sci-fi and poetry in MIXED SIGNALS by Aly Kantor. A car ride elevates into sexuality, identity, and even outer space while expertly remaining grounded in genuine emotion. These are characters and a story that will stay with me and a delight for actors, director, and sound engineer to explore on stage.

AW!!!! This is such a cute piece about a lovely relationship between two people. The conversations about getting lost in life and how sometimes you just need to follow a new direction would be very relatable to a lot of audiences. Adding the twist on was also a stroke of genius. You can't help but smile by the end of this because its a beautiful relationship of two beautiful characters with so much beautiful descriptive dialogue (no I don't think that's too many beautifuls) you can see the moon shining in the night sky. Its just a wonderful piece.

This 5-minute duologue is intriguing from the start and Kantor pulls you in to the intrigue before words are spoken. The piece left me with many questions (which is a good thing in my opinion!) Is Katherine speaking in metaphor or truth? Is “alien” code for “queer. “ It’s fun to think about and I hope Kantor plans to write more about these two characters. I would love to see them and learn more about them in a longer work.
