  • Kate Herlihy: 100 Things I Never Said To You

I enjoy all of Szymkowicz's writing, but this is by far by favorite of their pieces! It is such a creative way to approach grief, love, loss, and shock while still maintaining a sense of balance through a sense of lightness. It is as honest and complex as people are, especially while enduring the grieving process, and is a beautiful read that's profound and meaningful.

Adam Szymkowicz is one of my favorites. I really like how this play gives different points of view on grief. I felt like I was reading on honest and heart-felt letter to someone who had passed.

  • Lalita Garcia: 100 Things I Never Said To You

I love that this play demonstrates different perspectives on grief and the words that are left unsaid because I've noticed that some people expect for others to grief a certain way and are often judged harshly when they do not meet those expectations.

  • Missy Contreras: 100 Things I Never Said To You

I thought this piece was very interesting and quite true. So many things left unsaid until it’s too late. Also how everyone expresses grief or death so differently. I like how the dialogue of the characters and who is who is left up to the reader. I did enjoy how different but real this play was

  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: 100 Things I Never Said To You

Adam Szymkowicz is a favorite of mine. I find comfort in the words he creates. I spent the entire day listening to a sad song with a verse on it from my favorite artist. Apparently, he did this verse the day before he died. There was something special about reading this after listening to that song. This reminds me a lot of high school. I've been to one too many assemblies. This play perfectly captures how grief comes in different forms. I would do anything to see this live or to work on this piece.

As a high school theatre teacher, I always appreciate Szymkowicz's approach to teen characters and dialogue and this play is no exception. The loss of a student named Julie prompts a kaleidoscope of emotions and responses from the student body. Memories (some funny, some heartbreakingly mundane, some touching and poignant) are shared as well as reflections on her death and how it impacts the larger community as well. It's as honest a portrayal of the many, many shades of grief as I've read in a long time. Beautiful work!

A terrific piece for a group read; a thorough assemblage of the immense variety of responses to grief.

  • Julia Everitt: 100 Things I Never Said To You

This play did an excellent job of capturing the weird feelings associated with loss and grief. It's a play that makes you think, that makes you feel, and is willing to let you up for air just long enough that you don't drown in the emotions of it.

What a beautiful idea for a play! I love it! I hope all the high schools get to produce it because they will love it, and it will be helpful and healing and honest and full of heart and soul and moving and everything a play for people should be no matter what our ages. Thank you!

  • Aly Kantor: 100 Things I Never Said To You

We are all a million different people, and nobody knows that better than a talented playwright - and who contains more multitudes than the brilliant Adam Szymkowicz? This play illuminates the fact that no two people experience another individual in quite the same way. I found myself thoroughly engaged, puzzling through which lines could conceivably be delivered by the same "character." It's a poetic piece full of infinite possibilities for casting and staging - simultaneously melancholy, human, and hopeful. I can imagine that any high school student would be able to relate to these characters...
