With some plays, an audience will know the ending in advance; the fun comes in discovering how the characters will get there. That's the case with Philip Middleton Williams' short, romantic fantasy/drama "Going There" -- and Williams delivers the goods with his skill. The characters are terrific as is the plotting. The theatricality of this play is high, and it's easily produced.

It's funny how an entire lifetime can change in a moment with what seems like a small decision, and Philip Middleton Williams has illustrated this idea in just ten minutes. What I appreciate about this ten-minute two-hander is how Philip handled the ambitious time-jumping on stage between four unique scenes with cinematic ease--it made the screenwriter in me smile. Another well-written triumph in the Philip Middleton Williams collection. My only question left is: which of their futures is real? (and I think that was the entire point!)

So much sweet and heart achingly beautiful nostalgia and love in this very short play. Sam and Gary have are a great pair...in any of the sliding door-like timelines. I can't believe how much love, hope and honestly, familiarity is in this short play...and it doesn't feel over-packed. It's the perfect amount of baggage for this little journey we take with these two characters.
