I heard this wonderful play be read at the Midwest Dramatists Conference this year. Elana has such a beautiful way of telling this story, and how these characters find their own happiness while also struggling to connect and find love. Beautiful work Elana.

A beautifully crafted piece about the push and pull of time that would be an absolute treat for any actor to dive into. Elana Gartner's use of theatricality, dialogue, and character takes you on both a heart-wrenching and heart-warming journey.

Age of Chimes is a sublimely moving play that uses its theatricality to reveal nuance that might otherwise not rise to the surface of its central characters, even on a third date. I saw a reading of this play at the Midwest Dramatists Conference and I was thoroughly impressed by the plays puzzling premise and Elana Gartner’s excellent execution of the play’s conceit. Lovely.

Some of us are born old; some of us could live to be a hundred and still never stop being scared teenagers at heart. Can two people at either extreme sustain a relationship? That’s the question at the heart of Elena Gartner’s AGE OF CHIMES, a beautiful and ingeniously constructed meditation on love and a director/designer’s magical realist dream come true. A joy.

An incredibly honest play about the flux of a relationship, two lovers growing apart - there is such a nice tone to this piece: bittersweet and just so damn real. It also features a fascinating and well-executed device in the "aging" of the characters which I will not spoil for you - read the play for yourself and find out!

An intriguing morning after where these two discover quite a bit in a short time. Will they still want to spend time together? Very fun!
