How fun would this be to stage! Seriously, Paul Donnelly has created a great story out of a situation gone wrong. It would be awesome to direct and produce this little nugget and I would start by showing the failed proposal first on a projector. The characters are rich, the threat of mom richer. Paul pushes all the right levers in this excellent 10 minute show. Highly recommend.

Max has an "it seemed like a good idea at the time" problem that goes very badly. Or, does it? Mr. Donnelly has created a realistic and funny story that's entirely plausible. How many times have we seen viral videos where guys propose and it always ends well. This time it doesn't. The video is still viral, but it could still turn out differently for Max, if he'd just come out from under the covers. Well done!

This is a fantastic comedy that fits right in with today's heavily mediated and technological world. Paul Donnelly crafts a great comedy with lifelike characters. Max's journey throughout this piece is incredibly fun to watch, Brenda's logic rings true throughout the piece, and Stuart's act of friendship really sits well to tie the piece together.

Perfect for baseball season, SEVENTH INNING STRETCH is about a shame memory that will live inside Max forever (in Jumbotron) - but with the help of older sis Brenda and best bud Stuart, he’ll maybe laugh it off as the years go by and the YouTube views fade. Paul Donnelly explores this very real premise with pathos, patience, and pizazz, and it’s just possible Max will have learned something about love and love lost during a ballgame. The first page pulls the reader in very effectively and I love the well-timed silences. Three cheers from the Peanut Gallery!

This short comedy is a lot of fun! Max is currently a YouTube sensation for all the wrong reasons, and he swears he will never leave his house again. I loved the natural dialogue as the characters bantered back and forth, and I'd be interested to see what happens next for both Max and Carla, who was also featured in the YouTube video.

Natural dialogue - great pacing - wonderful characters - comedic timing - this short play has everything an audience would love.

A short, to the point, yet very effectively funny comedy. The kind of play that could go viral, just like its protagonist.

In our age of relentless self-exposure on social media, one wrong turn can make you a viral pariah overnight. Donnelly explores this idea with lighthearted cleverness in this funny short play, as an earnest young man seemingly blows his chances with the woman of his dreams. But can viral infamy ultimately work in his favor? SEVENTH INNING STRETCH could prove a favorite at 10-minute comedy festivals.

A really funny depiction of a modern day tragedy. It got me thinking about how everything we do these days is on filmed, able to be replayed over and over again. A perfect 10 minute play for any festival or competition!

This was a really sweet little read. The play does a great job of exploring the various perspectives of everyone associated with a viral video, from those *in* them to those in the comment section. I especially appreciated the exploration of how even though people may be humiliated by a video's explosion, they find the silver lining in the aftermath to rebound and become better people with a renewed sense of self. In this way, I enjoyed the little "twist" at the end where the perspective shifts.

I would love to see this on stage!
