I recently had the opportunity to watch a performance of this short play during Bump in the Night Theatre’s “Jump Scares: Vol. 1.” I applaud Dzubak & all involved, because if you had told me this was originally an audio play, I would bury you alive myself for telling lies (*not actually*). The isolation & terror of Foster's predicament translate to the stage magnificently. Lighting, sound, and the lack of them become everything, placing us right in the coffin as well. Incredible short horror.

The situation in Cole Hunter Dzubak' s "A Lot of Time to Think" is pure nightmare fuel. It's very effective, too -- I could barely stand reading it. Hearing it as audio drama or watching it on stage would be almost unbearable. [24/12/06]

11/29/2024. Can a play give you claustrophobia? Turns out it can! A LOT OF TIME TO THINK is an impeccably written psychological thriller by Cole Hunter Dzubak. I had the joy of being a terrified audience member seeing this play at Bump In The Night Theatre's Jump Scares festival.

10/27/24: I had the absolute pleasure and honor of seeing a reading of this at Planet Ant's "Halloween Hootenany," and it was indeed a great piece. Dzubak builds the tension and dread so effectively. The audience I was with were so engrossed that you could hear a pin drop during the reading of it. This should do well in any future festivals or even audio projects that would choose to have it. Highly recommended.

I'm such a claustrophobic and this is terrifying! Especially the hopelessness and randomness of poor Foster's plight. This will be the cause of many nightmares to come!

Wow! A claustrophobic’s worst nightmare! Cole Hunter Dzubak has created a heart pounding thriller where you’ll wonder if you’ll catch your breath before Foster takes his last. Sensational!

An absolutely stunning piece that masters the complex and heavy emotions behind what is a true nightmare scenario for many people. It's not often that writing leaves me speechless, but this piece has done that. Amazing work by the excellent COLE HUNTER DZUBAK.

  • Andrew Martineau: A Lot of Time to Think

I was thoroughly engaged in this life or death, horrifyingly bleak scenario because the stakes are high and the existential dread of this poor man feels so painfully real. Like a good Poe story or a Beckett play, Dzubak gives us glimpses of a guy fighting for his life by trying to talk through all the successes, regrets and trivialities of his life. Great stuff, Cole!

  • Claudia Haas: A Lot of Time to Think

This will give you minimal time to think. Think fast because there’s not a lot of time. Not even as much time as Dzubak suggests. Root for him, pray for him, but can you grant the gift of time?

  • Christopher Plumridge: A Lot of Time to Think

Chilling, in the worst possible way.
This has the making of a Hollywood blockbuster, where audiences are gripped in this claustrophobic and suffocating story.
Exactly the sort of film I choose not to watch, for it is my greatest fear.
All said this is superbly written and the ending took me completely by surprise.
