this play had me and the audience HOOTING ands HOLLERING--I know nothing about card collecting or sports and yet I was hooked, fully committed to the love and care these characters had for the hobby. Fucking good stuff here.

As an avid pack ripper, I felt seen in this play. If you love cards or if you've only dealt with a standard 52, you'll be taken by this story of belonging, community, and finding your own way to be a collector, and to be a man. Just like opening a pack of cards, this play is exhilarating and best experienced with friends!

I saw a reading of The Pilon as part of The Understudy's Freshly Brewed series in Chicago and it completely knocked me off my feet. An exciting, touching, easy-to-dive-into piece of theater for anyone, card collectors and all. I can't remember the last time I've seen a room light up for a play in the way the audience did for this. So excited to see this produced in the future!

Walking to the first public reading of this play last night, I said to myself, “Zach Barr is going to do something amazing.”
    This play is magic.
