  • Joe Swenson: We Don't Have Much Time

I don't think I'll be alone in saying that I had to read this twice and both times it read differently. A short play like this is supposed to be open-ended and Lou Jones creates a wonderful show that is full of mystery. You feel for Steven and wonder what is going on. Lou tells this story brilliantly and gives you just enough answers to shape your imagination into filling in the blanks. Wonderful show!

Jones creates a complete poignant story with very little dialogue but manages to capture the loss within a family so eloquently.

Wow. This play packs so much emotion in its few pages about loss and family.

So much is uncovered in so little time. It sinks in once it is over. And you realize this wealth of character, plot, and tragedy. Well played, Lou Jones, well played!

  • Paul Donnelly: We Don't Have Much Time

Two unsympathetic seeming parents are revealed to be dealing with an enormous disruption to their lives in this poignant and effective short play. I felt for their son at every stage. I was also moved by the double meaning of the title.

This one minute play really highlights that no matter what you see, you don’t know what someone is battling with behind closed doors or at home. Worth a read!

  • Marc Harris: We Don't Have Much Time

Luckily I had enough time to read this 1 minute play! It's a very clever short script with a poignant and surprising ending. I enjoyed this and also had to re-read it. There is so much more which could be revealed (read aloud by the father) in the final ...... (I don't wish to the spoil the ending) by the teacher, with his views on all concerned, if Lou wished to develop the script further, although it certainly works as it is. Well done!

I'm not the biggest fan of one minute plays, the time restraint prevents any depth of story. Usually. But here Lou Jones has proved me totally wrong.
In WE DONT HAVE MUCH TIME so much is said, yet also unsaid, that I had to read this twice, the second time after knowing the ending, for this gave it a vastly different meaning. There are so many different ways this play could be staged.
No spoilers here but the ending will knock audiences off their feet.
    Excellent work!
