I have a new hero! Intern Nirmal! Their kindness, openness, and curiosity is as inspiring as their happy dance is warming.

The dialogue is delightfully arch in a Monty Python with Pith Helmets way. (I read it with British accents. It was difficult not to!) Dr. Bill is every know it all ass who refuses to listen even though you’ve answered their question several times!

But the true star is the stork! Their prehistoric visage already gives them a puppet-like appearance, so it’s a gift to puppeteers! It’s also a terrific character!

    A tiny tour de force!

We all have those moments in our life where we feel like we should be gaining insight to the world around us or the wisdom that nature and all of her beauty should be imparting to us if we truly want it. Sometimes that comes just by doing a little dance and laughing at silly knock-knock joke because joy should never be so hard to obtain if we could just shut down the questioning mind and just dance for joy.

This short play had me laughing out loud! I truly had no idea where this innovative piece was going, but I was absolutely invested from the start. Such fun characters and incredibly witty dialogue - plus an overarching theme about the corrupt relationship humans often form with nature. The ending is delightfully eerie as well. Would love to see this staged, great work!

I really love the magical mind of this playwright, once again she has given us such a wonderful character, this time actioned by two actors. As a sometimes producer, I would relish the chance of creating this Shoebill Stork, for any thoughtful attempt will be a pleasure for the audience to admire.

Aside from this, there is an important message here, we really need to communicate with nature, if only we could communicate.

There's an old saying that wisdom is not measured by degrees. I'm not sure where I heard that; P.F. Chang's or from the Shoebill Stork, but it doesn't matter; it's where we find it. Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn's tale of seeking wisdom from a big bird is full of humor, laugh-out-loud situations, and in doing so makes us wiser, smarter, and happier. Well, that's for you to decide, but you'd be an idiot if you didn't love it.

There is such a strong sense of wonderful imagination at play within this laugh-out-loud comedy. Not only is this play full of great laughs, but actually has some great wisdom within it and it's delivered in the best (and most fun) way possible. This stork is sure to get a lot of laughs!

I didn't think I was going to gain wisdom from a Shoebill Stork today, but here we are. An entertaining and absurd read that somehow still gives great meaning about the human condition even when it's coming from two actors dressed up like a giant bird. (Loved the "Sesame Street" reference, by the way, but I'm always a sucker for a good "Sesame Street" reference.) Picturing how this would be performed on stage definitely made me grin, and the rest of the play did a really good job of maintaining that grin throughout.

Ah, I can always count on a Jacquie Floyd play to make me laugh. And I mean that in the best way. A goofy premise that makes more sense than you think (we do like looking for answers in the weirdest places, don't we?) and here we get a man of science trying to garner wisdom from a giant bird. Beats the Bible, doesn't it? I loved it.

I think if anyone came to me looking for wisdom, I would say "Read any of Jacquie's work if you want to leave happier than when you started." How's THAT for wisdom?

I read this. It made me laugh several times. I would love to see this giant dancing shoebill stork on stage.

The quest for ancient wisdom and maybe a Nobel Prize clouds the magic right before Dr. Bill’s eyes. In this charming, funny, and somewhat creepy tale of innocence, greed, and the wonders of nature, Jacquie Floyd-Priskorn provides a welcome addition to her delightful collection of stone circle short plays. A wonderful challenge for costumers and for the two actors portraying the magnificent SHOEBILL STORK! Would love to see how a creative team brings this to life!
