Ha! I totally love this play!
Olive is, if your a single man in your 30s, the last person you want to go on a date with, for reasons far more sinister than she makes out.
I would love to see this play staged, the dark humour is perfectly spot on!

If you keep experiencing the same issue with dating, at a certain point it's not a bad idea to ask, "am I the problem?" The thing is, is what is Olive's problem? What is it really? That, I won't spoil. But know it's exuberantly weird and just splendid. A hilarious dark comedy that will leave you reeling.

Brenton Kniess has taken a wild idea and just ran with it! The men in their 30s in Seattle owe a debt of gratitude. Kniess' world of pillow hoarders and serial killers is wacky and fun. I'd be really excited to see PILLOW TALK performed live! It has all the hallmarks of the type of "weird" comedy that when acted and directed fully committed to the bit, can be one of the most enjoyable theatrical experiences.

Olive has been on a lot of first dates, and she has the pillows to prove it. Second dates are another story. Brenton Kniess has crafted a clever look at the dating scene that will be the talk of any festival.

Well I sure didn't see that coming. It's clear from the get go that Olive has unique intimacy issues, but just how unique comes as quite a surprise. She is wittily revealed to be the true queen of the bad first date.

What starts out as a typical “how did the date go?” scenario between roommates quickly becomes a quirky, subversive examination of people who have problems with intimacy and establishing healthy relationships. I had no idea where the plot would take me, but I was mesmerized by the unique, unexpected story that Kniess took me on. I would love to see some of Olive’s earlier dates to try to analyze her rather bizarre motives. Fascinating work!

Sure, the premise of this absurd dark comedy may be utterly bonkers, but there is something thoroughly relatable about being so afraid of connection that you'll foster a strange, compulsive "habit" to keep people at arm's length. The truth is, vulnerability is tough for some of us, and this goofy short shines a light on the (sometimes bizarre but uniquely human) ways in which people fight tooth and nail against connection. The well-executed twist at the end was a shocking and fun way to end this wild story! This wild, quirky, and darkly goofy romp will certainly delight audiences!
