12.01.24 - I didn't know what to expect from this play, although Aly Kantor's character descriptions should have provided some insight. (Loved the "human keep out sign" and a "human welcome mat" sobriquets). This went dark quickly but dark in a twisted, humorous way that I loved. What a story the two characters present us with. No ordinary meet-cute this, I was fascinated with the possibilities and although one character may provide payoff to the other soon, I was clamoring for more. Terrific.

Your stomach may churn, your heart may beat a little bit faster, maybe you’ll want to run for the hills! But don’t — Aly Kantor’s aptly named Meat Cute is well worth the risk. A meet cute of a darker variety, this play is willing to go to dark places on the way to its surprisingly sweet conclusion. An excellent short play for those with discerning tastes.

Fascinating characters. Eventually, a love story - of sorts. The story line is solid and kept me involved throughout. Well written and would be a joy to see on stage. Bravo

What a twisted, sweet, disturbing, lovely play! With a surprise every few lines, meat cute had me glued to the page from beginning to end. The characters and their conflicts are incredibly vivid and well woven. Would love to see this play staged one day!

Meat Cute grabs you and punches you in the gut. It’s shocking but, like a horrific accident, you can’t look away. The writing is perfectly spare, and the dialogue pulls you in and then delivers something so tender and unexpected. Courageous. Creative. Absolutely brilliant.

Dark and disturbing on the surface. Ok, even a couple of layers down. But as Aly Kantor has her characters dig deeper, we also discover a surprisingly tender story of loneliness, acceptance, and maybe even love, albeit kind of strange. Great dialogue, intriguing characters, and a most original storyline make this a must read/must produce.

Wow! This play has blown me away, not just for the difficult subject, it's written so beautifully.
A 'business' arrangement slowly turns into a tender moment between two lost and lonely women.
Aly is an exceptional writer, and here she has taken on an awkward, dark subject and given us such a unique, stunning and in a strange way, a very heartwarming play.

Oh, COME ON, this play is so damn good. The specifics of the interaction between Izzy and Savannah are decidedly unusual, but the ... okay, the meat of it is just so deeply, beautifully human. A total (and only slightly unnerving) pleasure.
