All theatres are haunted, sure. But are all humans haunted as well? And why? The theatre is a magical place that illuminates truths and in STAGE FRIGHT, through a series of "auditions" we see some extremely dark truths come into the spotlight!

Well done, Christopher Soucy! Stage Fright is everything a Halloween play should be. A ghost story set on stage that turns into a mystery, and has more twists and turns than you would expect in a short play. Nice roles for actors, and a chance for a sound designer to shine as well. An obvious choice for all haunted theatres everywhere!

The perfect Halloween treat. Christopher Soucy crafts a thrilling horror that is full of surprises and scares. This is a fantastic piece for any horror festival!

  • Aly Kantor: Stage Fright

Wow! The twists and turns don't stop coming in this eerie piece! For such a spare script, it tells a highly effective story, full of compelling twists and turns, and somehow answers all the lingering questions an audience might have! I love a spooky play in which the monster isn't necessarily who you think it's going to be, and the reveal in this one is slow, creepy, and epically chilling. It would be incredibly simple to stage but would still provide ambitious sound designers with a fun creative challenge! Fantastic momentum and excellent storytelling!

There are several playwrights that I turn to when I am working on a horror play. Christopher Soucy is one of them. This play has so many twists and turns that you won't stop until the play is over. You can't help but root for the demise of this character and feel for this ghost. Brilliant work!

Now THAT'S how you write a ghost story! Holy cow, that was amazing to read. I imagine it would be even better staged. Christopher Soucy gets you thinking one way (a deliciously creepy way), then turns it on it's head with the reveal of what's going on, AND THEN, throws you right back into the creep zone with another reveal! I loved this one.

A perfectly spooky mystery set during a theater audition. I can’t imagine a more frightening setting. Christopher Soucy lets the tension build expertly and then delivers a terrific payoff. Every theater should have this one on their Halloween schedule!

  • Donald E. Baker: Stage Fright

A totally different interpretation of "stage fright." It isn't the actors auditioning for parts in an unnamed play who are nervous. It's the director, who is hearing sounds and voices no one else hears. The actors are reading the words in the sides they are performing, but the director is hearing something completely different--scary words, accusatory words. The revelation of what is afoot is satisfying, and the last two lines are inspired. A perfect addition to any theater's evening of spooky short plays.

A nice, short little slice of ghostly horror... with a twist! Anyone who grew up reading horror comics (guilty) will love it!

  • Ross Tedford Kendall: Stage Fright

A tight little short play that works on both horror and drama. Theatre works best when it reveals character, and this piece does just that. It even works in a bit of humor, but above all, it works as a haunted piece. Theatres do have a spooky charm. Great work!
