I've always been fascinated by all things One Hundred Acre Wood and the real life story behind it all so I was delighted to come across this play. It's a lovely piece with plenty of "weight to any whimsy" which Tennant weaves throughout. So many details which a designer will have a ball translating to the stage: tea, the "silly old Bear," WWII, the titles... Brava! Great title! (Oct 24, 2024)

A poignant and sometimes harrowing look at the cost paid by a real young man for his father's popular fictionalized account of his childhood. The abandonment of the real young man takes a toll, as does his service in the Second World War. Milne seems to realize a little, but perhaps not quite enough, about the harm he has done. That these superbly drawn characters have real life models only adds to the depth and resonance of the narrative.

A story that has brought joy to millions of children had a far less positive effect on the child who inspired it. Alaina Tennant tells the story of Christopher Robin Milne and his relationship with his parents and the famous story in beautiful and heartbreaking fashion. In what I consider to be the climactic moment, the tension between father and son was so intense it took my breath away! This is absolutely ready to be staged!
