Recommendations of Angles in the Snow

  • Danielle Wirsansky: Angles in the Snow

Angles in the Snow is a witty, short comedy that perfectly captures the chaotic charm of outdoor classroom lessons. With a clever twist and memorable characters, it delivers big laughs in just three minutes. A delightful play that proves math—and weather—can be full of surprises!

As I write this recommendation, I’m in sunny Los Angeles. I am not taking that for granted. A perfect short that shows you can never truly underestimate the sadism of a math teacher. And the button is just *chef’s kiss.

  • Scott Sickles: Angles in the Snow

Perhaps you, like me, misread the title, both acutely and obtusely, then ultimately rightly. When you read it correctly, it makes so much more sense but that's math for you. I love this teacher. I love how the student's annoyingness is directly proportional to the validity of their annoyance. There are a few angles at play here, all of them adding up to sharply defined shape, especially when outside variables are introduced to the equation. And who doesn't love having class outside? [1/1/25]

Fenton's short screenplay makes perfect use of visuals to drive home the ironic ending. It'd be fun to watch this short film.

  • Jeffrey James Keyes: Angles in the Snow

Fenton masterfully knocks this short out of the ballpark. I love the setup and the all two familiar characters are a delight to spend a li’ll time with. I feel like the audience is the shivering class around them and we’re all in on the joke. Thank you for the chuckles with this one! Nice work.

  • Brent Alles: Angles in the Snow

A neat little morsel here that certainly shows you that sometimes you have to be careful for what you wish for. Fenton gets some laughs throughout this short piece. Good "slice of life" with a nice little bite to it and a slightly obtuse angle of looking at this story. Enjoyed it!

  • John Busser: Angles in the Snow

12.20.24 - Only the laughs will add up in this comedy about math and possible death from exposure. A teacher playing a prank learns a lesson in karmic backlash thanks to Peter Fenton's darkly funny play. While obnoxious student Carolyn may have been the catalyst for this mess, Mr. Beckett fails the course with one crucial subtraction in his formula. And that subtraction provides the comic button on the matter. Fun stuff.

Peter Fenton's "Angles in the Snow" mixes typos and puns to give a group of ill prepared students (and their teacher) a lesson they'll never forget! Charming, funny, and full of winter warmth. Seriously!

A sharp, funny cracker jack prize of a play! Both characters are recognizable, and because we know who they are and what they're about, we get to cut to the laughs with minimal exposition and just enjoy the delightful absurdity! The laughs come quickly, concluding with a memorable visual button that will have audiences snorting!
