"The Forgetful Storyteller"is a beautiful, at times heart wrenching, story of a man who, while suffering from dementia, never loses his true self. Even when struggling with the ever present symptoms of his disease, David never stops trying to help his family, proving time and time again that he is caring to his core. It is a heartbreaking look at what dementia can do to not only an individual, but their family. I highly recommend reading this play, but make sure you have tissues on hand.

I enjoyed reading The Forgetful Storyteller. Thankfully, my family haven't had to experience dementia, but Jack's story of a family struggling to cope with the challenges of this condition felt incredibly authentic and heartfelt. A story well told.

Yes, this is a story about dementia. But more than that it is a story about family. And what a beautiful family it is. The closeness of the three generations presented feels real and welcoming. This is the kind of story that makes you want to hug those closest to you. The perfect remedy for a chilly winter day.

"The Forgetful Storyteller" is a grounded and complex story of a beloved family member's battle with dementia. Jack Levine never descends into melodrama or platitudes, instead giving the audience a realistic story of how family members cope when they also have battles of their own to fight. This is a brilliant play that has meaty parts for older actors and would be powerful on stage. Bravo, Jack!

The Forgetful Storyteller is a deeply human story about a family losing its beloved elder David to dementia as other family members are confronted with loss and life-shaking situations. Actors would sink into the rich emotions of this story. What suffuses the lines like a kind of perfume is tenderness.

This is an emotional family drama rooted in truth. A terrific showcase for actors and an emotionally resonant and poignant heart.

What I like about this story is that, just like in real life, dementia isn't the only problem this family is coping with. But the person who has the dementia diagnosis is the one everyone usually looks to to solve their problems. Life continues as David struggles to keep up. Very relatable.

Filled with a great deal of heart, broken and otherwise, this is the story of David Larsen, the emotional “rock” for family and friends. A lifetime of accumulated knowledge AND wisdom make David the person everyone turns to for advice and inspiration. But now, dementia is taking David away. Without being maudlin, this play movingly portrays the devastating effects of dementia, while still joyously celebrating a life. A terrific ensemble piece with memorable characters you get to know intimately.
