Absolutely brilliant! This monologue is the internal dialogue many of us experience, but only in the way SCOTT SICKLES could write. It's raw... it's painful... it's beautiful.

03/13/2026 - Another great monologue in this series! It feels so natural and organic to the point where Isaac realizes he is delivering a monologue. I also love how Scott slowly reveals the flow of information to the audience, which keeps us engaged to the very last lines. Well done!

Oh, oh, oh, this may be my favorite Bascom and Isaac piece yet. This torrent of words may seem scattered at first, but Scott Sickles shows a sure hand in its construction: the point, when it arrives, lands beautifully. Not a single syllable has been superfluous. Just lovely, lovely, lovely.

Continuing the further adventures of Bascom and Isaac, Scott Sickles gives us a stream of conscious monologue that brings so much together in a loving, frantic moment.

Oh my gosh, I love this. LOVE IT. The dialogue in this monologue is so natural, and even though it's all over the place and you wonder where it's going, you realize by the end that it has been, from the start, a declaration of love. I love how Scott Sickles weaves a thousand threads together into a beautiful cohesive whole. Fabulous!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: Erstwhile (a Bascom and Isaac monologue)

This is a love poem in the style of Faulkner-stream of consciousness-and yet I want to bathe in the stream of these words. "There is nothing erstwhile about you. Everything is in the present.
You... are always in the present." Starting with youthful crushes that end up crushing you and spiraling to the now, these words become vows and cuddles and everything that is good in the world wrapped in one monologue. Scott Sickles creates word babies that I want to grow up with and never lose touch!

A beautiful -- all-over-the-place-in its authenticity-- expression of the joy of true oxytocin-inducing love. Super.

  • Mike Byham: Erstwhile (a Bascom and Isaac monologue)

Read this just to get to this beautiful phrasing - "It’s not a supernova; the light doesn’t just go out forever to nowhere. It’s a binary star system, like Tatooine without the weather. You are always today." Only Sickles could use a Star Wars reference in such a profound and heartfelt manner. Absolutely love this ode to the type of love that sticks when challenged. Wonderful.

A tortured love letter that rises to the level of an ode . . . to be sung. Scott Sickles "Erstwhile (a Bascom and Isaac monologue)" will hold you in its sweet embrace from beginning to end. I would love to see this performed.
