Artistic Statement
I love it when odd or fantastical conceits see characters bargain with very real emotions, struggle, and joy. Whether my play contains a fantasy element, offers a fresh take on an old trope, or features characters entering a very specific set of circumstances, I always try to ground the work in my own experiences. I love to write characters that are different from myself, but I find that they all have parts of me—whether it’s the candor of an old general, the relentlessness of a rookie detective, or the adventurous spirit of a wayward girl. I have never had words flow out of me so freely as they do when I write, and I look forward to a life filled with it.
