My playwriting is primarily character and dialogue-driven, centering on characters caught in the crosshairs of calamity and self-doubt. As a career journalist, I am inspired by news stories and events that provide an opportunity to explore the facets of “truth.” What are the internal and external forces that cause people and institutions to behave the way they do?
At the core, however, is the desire to make an audience feel something, to walk away having had an emotional experience just from listening to people talk to each other on stage. This, to me, is the miracle of theater.
