Artistic Statement

During a creative/non-fiction class, the award winning writer Bob Shacochis, asked us to explain in writing, why we write. My reply was to get back at the bullies, the bureaucrats, the people who abuse or take advantage of others. I often use humor to embrace the very serious subjects of prejudice, income inequality and hypocrisy. My writing often embraces artists and their struggles.I hope my writing makes people cry, laugh and think seriously about social injustice.
