Artistic Statement

I write plays that travel the cracks between worlds: often along socio-political fault lines, with a feminist and border-crossing lens, and always through a poetic slant. There's often a tragi-comic element. The music of language, and the hard-won beauty of form, are central. (Caryl Churchill's FAR AWAY and Adrienne Kennedy's FUNNYHOUSE OF A NEGRO are two of my favorite plays.) I write strong roles for women and, because they cross worlds, my plays are well-suited to casting across ethnicities.
