Artistic Statement
I love the dialectic between the visceral nature of flesh and blood bodies breathing and sweating on stage, with the sheer artificiality of theater: the design elements, the heightened language, and the stylized modes of acting. I am intrigued that theater, more than film or television, has the greatest potential for the exploration of ideas – especially the simple truth that fleshy creatures that eat, drink, shit, piss, fart and fuck are also responsible for philosophy, science, and art. Consequently, I love slapsticks, subversiveness, and blasphemy.
