My plays have explored the joys and pains of intimacy or how policy affects relationships, particularly among black folks. Though my curiosity about intimacy in the face of policy remains, recently my work has been inspired by my family’s history as well as family lore. I am also thinking about the connections and disconnections between the body and the natural world and how that relationship shifts at different times of our lives. I enjoy writing ensemble pieces with a cast of nuanced characters.
