Artistic Statement

From queer afrofuturistic retelling of biblical narratives to witches reimaged as dominatrix political assassins, I use spectacle, audience participation, horror, and poetry to recontextualize systemic power as a form of magic. My plays question whose magic is considered ‘holy’ and who is damned for trying to wield it. I believe that art is a powerful tool that can shift public consciousness and that power is best used when it’s in the service of marginalized people.
