I write comedies and dramas with an edge, with excellent roles for actors. I write in different genres and formats because I am always looking for truth, for the organic way to express what the play is really about. I am attracted to theatricality, to the use of theatrical convention so I can uncover the truth in ways that only theatre can provide – immediate, live, wondrous, upsetting, exciting. Some of my plays are entertainments; others deal with the inconvenient truths of the human condition; others deal in politics or art. But always, theatre first: actors, passion, and an audience.
