I was introduced to writing in 2001 when I was in Los Angeles between acting jobs. At the time, I was experiencing heartbreak, so I timidly took a writing workshop out of curiosity. Wow. Control over my creative life and the ability to write down stories and determine their outcome. I was in! Most of my plays are informed by my own life experiences dealing with sexuality, homophobia, family dynamics and always…love. Love in the many forms it takes in the journey through life. I’ve always seen the quirky side of things, that underneath part that no one seems to be seeing. ‘The elephant in the room’ is pervasive in my storytelling. Every time something heartbreaking or poignant or maybe hilariously incomprehensible happens in my curious life journey, I start a play. At first to record the event, and then through readings and workshops, fine-tune the material so it's a cohesive story. Playwriting fills in the tiny cracks of my heart. My influences are
David Lindsay-Abaire, Sam Shepard, Steven Dietz and Lisa Soland.
