Artistic Statement
I like to think that I write every facet of life from a Black woman's perspective. That perspective may be an examination of history, challenging religious/spiritual teachings or simply the experience of being a daughter or a parent. There is bounty in the simplicity of life and our stories. The recounting of those stories from front porches, kitchens and kitchen tables, beneath majestic trees and on the back pews of churches is where I like to play. I love the magic of dialogue and the depths of trues that come from what we don't say.
