Artistic Statement

Somewhere there’s a girl whose heart is too big for her body. Between her ears lives a charm of hummingbirds, light and loud and buzzing. She wants to say something about how she is scared about hate and war and melting icebergs. She wants to say something else about her wild hopes, how she looks into the eyes of hurting people and loves them so much. She needs the hummingbirds to rest for a moment, so that she can feel her own giant heart beat. I’m writing plays for her.
