Artistic Statement
Entertainment is a high art and a life affirming, generous thing. My goal is to make theatre that supports the audience and platforms the talent of actors and can be produced at a low cost. I always set out to write scripts that are performative and transformative and engaging from the start, with no other context but the story itself. We presume a shared context too often, hoping audiences will respond to a parody of something we hope they've seen or a reversal of a convention we hope they already know. Theatre in 2024 cannot afford to be more insular. It can also not afford to be bland. Performances with more of an ethic toward supporting the audience are not shallow by default, but can rather be interesting, eventful, strong and meant.
