I'm a gay Black man who drinks a lot of wine and loves to put black stories on stage. My writing is a celebration of authentic Black and Queer experiences. As a playwright, I am constantly putting minorities at the forefront of everything I do. I aim to create spaces where minority stories can exist without pressure and the judgmental glare of the white gaze. I hope that my writing will showcase that these narratives are beautiful based on their own merits and not because they are palatable. As an artist, I constantly strive to prove that white validation is not a prerequisite for impactful art. Like Toni Morrison, I want to ensure that the white gaze is never the dominant outlook in any of my works. In terms of demographics, my writing targets youth of color and LGBTQ+ people from ages 17-28.
