Artistic Statement
I write plays about people who get caught up in larger-than-life systems and feel helpless in the face of their own choices. Most of my work focuses on women and girls and the experiences of forced, learned, and earned femininity; some of my work also examines the Jewish experience and what it means to float into and out of the designation of “other.” Most importantly, my work is about memory: How we create and reconstruct it, how we alter and honor it, and how it warps our everyday decision-making in ways we both do and do not recognize.
