Other presenters include New York Children’s Theatre, Clubbed Thumb, Lincoln Center, Bushwick Starr, and regional theatres including Two Rivers, Milagro, Aurora Theatre, Duke City Rep, Greenhouse Theatre, and more. She is the recipient of the inaugural Gotahm and Variety Audio Honors award for groundbreaking audio storytelling (Musings). Directing credits include Death and The Tramp (Portland OR), Alebrijes (Portland OR, El Paso TX, Puerto Vallarta MX), Bicycle Country (Atlanta, GA), La Casa Azul (Indianapolis & Carmel IN), Adamandi (Princenton NJ), The Book Club Play (Greely, CO). She is currently developing three musicals: (book) FINDING FRIDA with composer Jaime Lozano, THE VINYL CAFE (book) with musical writing duo Akiva Romer Segal and Colleen Dauncey, and COME ON LET'S GO (book) with Louie Perez and David Hidalgo of Los Lobos. As an arts educator she has taught at Kingsborough College NY, University of Texas El Paso, Princeton University and Dartmouth College.
Her work has been featured in the Kilroys List (StoneHeart), The Texas Review (Matted), Los Bárbaros | Lxs Bárbarxs (Pies Pa'Que), McSweeny's Press ("I Know What's Best For You"), New Passport Press (Cósmica, translation) and more. Her work has been produced across the USA, Italy, México, and participated internationally in the ASSITEJ festival in Denmark and Sweden. Off Broadway: Then They Forgot About The Rest (INTAR 2019), Sweep (Lincoln Center Director's Lab 2016) Off-Off Broadway: Desaparecidas (JACK, 2022). Her original work has been produced and developed at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center, NAMT, INTAR, New York Children's Theatre, Clubbed Thumb, Lincoln Center, Bushwick Starr (NY), Two Rivers (NJ), Milagro (PDX), Aurora Theatre (GA), Duke City Repertory (NM), and more.
Her short story "And then I hit the glass" was part of the Talking While Female album available on Audible, and "Musings" on Girl Tales Podcast, is the recipient of the inaugural Gotham & Variety Audio Honors award for groundbreaking audio storytelling. She is the creator/sole writer on Sonoro's Sci-Femme upcoming series "Hidden Element." Her short film MONAH had a World Premiere at the Austin Film Festival 2022.
She is the book & lyric writer for "Little Duende" with music & lyrics by Robi Hager, (NAMT '21, National Music Theatre Conference 2021) and book writer for the new musical "Desaparecidas" (Off-Off Broadway: JACK SPACE) with music by Jaime Lozano, and lyrics by Jaime Lozano and Florencia Cuenca. Her short plays have been featured across the country and internationally as part of initiatives like "After Orlando", Climate Change Theatre Action, The Future is Female, and EMILIA ROMAGNA TEATRO FONDAZIONE: Planet B. Un mondo ancora possibile? She serves on the Board of the El Paso Holocaust Museum, Marfa Live Arts, is on the Advisory Committee for the Latinx Theatre Commons, and a committee member for the Climate Commons for Theatre and Performance. Escobar is represented by Bret Adams Agency (Theatre; New York) and 3 Arts Entertainment (TV/Film; Los Angeles).
