Artistic Statement
As an artist, I always want my audience to find joy and humor in the experience, and to leave the theater questioning what they thought they already knew. Comedy and Drama are not mutually exclusive genres, nor should they be: like sunlight to shadow, humor sharpens solemnity. In the depths of suffering, we laugh. Through both the pain and the laughter, we grow.
Theatre lends itself uniquely to the exploration and deconstruction of perception and perspective: the inner workings of the human mind, our relationships with one another, ourselves, and the world around us. Why shouldn’t we laugh while we think? While we question? While we tear apart our biases to build ourselves anew?
