Artistic Statement

I come from the lands of nomads, distant and familiar places...Russia, Poland, Germany...lands my people called home until they were not. I am the daughter of first-generation American Jews whose parents were sent from away seeking shelter and acceptance. Most of my people sought refuge by living together creating Jewish ghettos, communities of their own making, but I could never feel at home there. Nor did I find solace in the mainstream. I was destined to linger on the periphery, the perpetual observer. My work speaks to that experience, to everyone on the sidelines by circumstance or choice.
