Artistic Statement

I've been a self-professed interdisciplinary aficionado for as long as I can remember, straddling the line between a love of learning and a passion for creativity. I find myself enamored with approaching relationships from a place of abundance instead of competition and find learning about the human experience and how to be in citizenship across differences through theatre always draws my heart.

My dramaturgy is collaborative and rooted in wonder, tending to ask questions rather than dictate answers. I also strongly believe in approaching work from a place of love and curiosity instead of "fixing it" and find the latter can be damaging to an artist and their works. I am not afraid to say "hey, this project isn't right for me, but I know someone else who would be a great fit."

Stories I'm drawn to: ones with space for melancholy and the bittersweet, stories that center introverted characters (#theatreneedsmoreintroverts), movement in theatre, environmental science and climate change, plays with music, musicals (including acapella), literary adaptations, femme-centric stories, plays with music, sports (specifically tennis, volleyball, flag football, and women’s soccer), and folk musicals. Those are some specifics, but I also have a wide and varied interest in all theatrical works and promise to approach your writing with an open heart and curious mind. You'll see this in both my recommendations and past work!

As a creative from the Southern US now based in NYC, I have a special heart for elevating the works of writers from the South, too.
