Artistic Statement
My favorite New Yorker cartoon has two guys standing in front of the marquee of a multiplex cinema, with one pointing to the list of movies. He is saying, "Not another movie about a straight couple in love. I'm tired of extrapolating". I, too, became tired of extrapolating and, in 2004, began writing plays with gay characters and themes. I have thoroughly enjoyed telling stories from the wealth of our gay experience, to both straight and gay audiences. When I run out of those stories, I guess I can go on to something else.
