Artistic Statement

My work centers chronic illness not just as a medical condition, but as a complex identity and vibrant community. At this stage in my life, my stories are focused on exploring the cost of surviving, including medical trauma, loss of bodily autonomy, and the long aftermath of being harmed by systems meant to provide care. Through my plays, I explore acceptance, belonging, grief, guilt, and the experience of living with a body that often feels like it’s betraying you.

I began writing to process my own experiences and challenge assumptions about illness and capability. As I began self-producing, my “why” changed. Audiences shared that my work helped them name their experiences, feel less alone after diagnosis, or get diagnosed altogether. The impact has led to my art becoming my way of advocating, educating, and providing the representation I wish I had when I was first diagnosed.
