If acting is measured in moments, then a playwright's work must be measured in memories. My writing is structured around the function of human memory and its disintegration over time. Focused on the history of my hometown and the people I grew alongside, I seek to take the stories of my past and translate them into the present. Inspired by the conflict between unconditional love and unrealized dreams, I am drawn to tell stories that exemplify the celebration of life’s absurdity in the face of hopeless odds. Through my writing, I wish to show that the circumstances of our birth don’t have to define our humanity. I firmly believe that the sum of my identity does not have to be the sum of my soul. I want to offer my memories to an audience because I believe there is a power in a play that individual to the writer can become universal through the actor.
