Simran Bal (she/hers) is the Midwestern daughter of South Asian immigrants. Her written work is inspired by both facets of her identity, and she is interested in personifying the intangible—things present in our stories without us being conscious of them (a point of comfort, a sense of security, time, impartial elements of nature, the voices in our heads, our worst fears, etc.) She aims to explore how they inform what we do, as well as womanhood, queerness, immigrant/midwestern family life, Desi-ness, and coming-of-age stories. She is a performer and writer based in Chicago, IL.
