I fail miserably at spotting trends. No good at discovering the trends in fashion, music or literature. But there is one trend I know for a fact is hot -- and that trend is DYING. We are ALL doing it. Some at faster rates than others.

If you count all the people on any given day, you can safely say that over 7 billion people are dying. Nothing can change that statistic. Not race, creed or financial status. I've often wondered why so few of us talk about death with so many of us doing it, especially in the United States where we use vague terms like passed, passed on, passed over, passed away, kicked the bucket, bought the farm, gone to be with (insert name).

Through my project The Grief Dialogues I wish to remove the apparent taboo around the subject of DEATH. I am creating a space of openness and the opportunity to share our personal stories about aging, dying and grief. This is my legacy.
