Artistic Statement
Theatre is such a special art form. It encourages us to engage with people, ideas, and places we may not know or even want to know. It unites, it spurs, it provokes, it enrages, it entices. It reminds us how we are really feeling at any given moment in life and to act on that inner voice, that inner light.
When we ask someone to tell their story, we are taking responsibility for that story. It can only survive if we as an audience respect it, listen to it, and allow it to fully be. We are made of the stories we tell ourselves and that others tell about us, and when we tell our story, we give a piece of ourselves away to the listeners. We give them some of our light, and they thank us by keeping it burning.
