I vow to never write a play that could be marketed with an image of two hip young people on a couch. With my plays, I try to fully embrace theatre as a live, communal ritual, where a bunch of strangers sit in a room all breathing the same air hoping to encounter something they’ve never known before. Creating a unique, communal experience is a service we provide. In the digital age, in which the majority of American curiosity is abated through a computerized filter, this service has become exponentially more vital.
