I feel most drawn to writing plays about weird girls who do cool things. Over the years, my writing has become more focused on stories for both young audiences and young actors. I feel like too much of the material for kids and teens out there today, whether it be in tv, film, or theatre, simplifies its stories and characters because of the assumption that kids won't notice the difference. But kids are among the smartest audience members out there, and their stories are just as complex and layered as any adult's. If I can inspire a kid to discover their own voice, whether through acting, writing, or even watching a character they really resonate with, I feel I'll have succeeded as a writer.
