Marilyn Schotland

Marilyn Schotland is a poet and playwright from Ann Arbor, Michigan, by way of Philadelphia.

Marilyn’s plays have been presented by Jewish Plays Project, The Ebell of Los Angeles, Villa Aurora, and First Kiss Theatre. Their play, Perihelion, was a recipient of the 2023 National Partners of the American Theatre Julie Jensen Playwriting Award and was a 2025 semi-finalist for the Ojai Playwrights Conference and the 47th Bay Area Playwrights Festival.

Marilyn is a Lambda Literary Fellow and a member of the Dramatist’s Guild of America. They hold an MFA in Dramatic Writing from the University of Southern California and a BA in History of Art and French from the University of Michigan.

An astronomer, a medievalist, and a psychic are on the hunt for a comet in Paris on the eve of World War II. When a devastating betrayal splinters their group, the resulting fallout ripples across time in unexpected ways. A meditation on academia, queer kinship, and longing, Perihelion asks us to consider what we owe each other, and what happens when love isn’t enough.
