For me, plays are about an emotional and theatrical experience. While I appreciate work that challenges the intellect, I don't write plays that are self consciously intellectual. I write plays that can exist in the modern world and that aim to entertain through humor and theatricality. I'm inspired by Brecht, Judd Apatow and Robert Altman and was raised artistically by Erik Ehn and modern dance. Audiences should have an experience that envelopes them and transforms them - and if I can do that through music, movement, and hard jokes, then so be it.
