My work deals with urgent, life-and-death issues. I put familiar characters into extraordinary circumstances; I pull no punches and take no prisoners. I regard language as both a powerful weapon and soothing tonic; I use humor to help the medicine go down, but it can also be a slap across the face. The characters in my comedies are like Artaud’s victims burnt at the stake, signaling to the audience through the flames. And getting laughs while doing it.
