I believe that effective pills are often bitter, and a bitter pill could easily be sold in a wrapper made of humor, painted with laughter, and folded into shape with imagination and comedy. The stark contrast between the joyful, exuberant exterior and the dark, hideous underlying message jars the senses and drags one’s attention forcibly to the issues examined. In this age of social media and the internet, when anything and everything can go viral and spread to the farthest realm of Mother Earth, our attention span is shrinking and dwindling like never before. I believe 10-minute plays, especially comedies, can raise awareness against and demand solutions for social or metaphysical injustices and inequalities, often playfully, often jokingly, and make the issues more heart-wrenching while also fostering a sense of connection with the audience.
