As a performer-who-writes, my career seemed like a parallel development of two pillars: stage acting and spoken word poetry. As it turned out, the two structures eventually found their juncture in a bilingual poetic solo-show called The Art of Flyswatting.
I then took a hard and audacious 90 degree turn into playwriting with a five-act epic play Through Bonavia, or The Simple Truth, which follows Antonio from Twelfth Night to his home city, and the complicated nature of revolution.
I find lots of beauty in finding form, breaking form, and repurposing forms as aesthetic, intimate, and political bridges. I'm definitely learning more about the nitty-gritty of the craft, and find learning on the go to be frightening and invigorating. Hurray words! Hurray process! Hurray cats!
