I want to give voice to the experiences of young minds who are struggling to find their way in this society, call out the oppressive systems that we have built to keep people down and bring some peace to those of us who struggle against them. In my life, I hope to become a vessel to give life to the stories of others and honor my family, community and country. I am an artist with three main goals: to preserve the culture and history of the Maroon People, to serve as a mirror for society and reflect the ideals and systems we try to ignore, and to entertain the public. I know that as fun and frivolous theatre may seem on the surface. It serves as a vessel for storytelling, an art that all humankind has participated in to preserve our heritage. I have been inspired by Lin Manuel Miranda, Tarrell Alvin Macraney and Tyler Perry. Their ability to connect with the community, highlight the stories of ordinary people and make them extraordinary is a skill I endeavor to master with my artistic pursuits and will be the primary focus of my career.
